Charleston County Council is placing a sales tax and use referendum question on the November 5, 2024 ballot to finance the extension of the Mark Clark Expressway, as well as the costs of highways, roads, streets, bridges, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, mass transit systems, and the preservation of green spaces. County staff has worked with local municipalities, the South Carolina Department of Transportation, and the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments to discuss potential projects and a method of financing these projects.
